0379 CHURCH TILES OF THE NINETEENTH CENTURY    £4.50

Kenneth Beaulah & Hans van Lemmen, Shire, 2001, 40pp, 59 colour + 12 b & w illus, booklet

The first edition of this excellent little book has been out of print for a number of years so we were looking forward to seeing this completely re-written and revised edition.  The drawings of tiles that made this book so useful for identifying church tiles have all been retained, but it now features colour photographs, enhancing its value and making it the ideal companion on a church tile visit!

1822 LA RAJOLA CATALANA DE MOSTRA DIBUIXADA PER SALVADOR MIQUEL   £20.00
Anon, Associació Catalana de Cerąmica, Spain, 2000, complete texts in English, Catalan, Spanish and French, 47pp, 26 colour plates featuring 736 full colour drawings of tiles, A4 booklet
Some years ago, the Associació Catalana de Cerąmica published an article that sought to categorise the abstract patterns appearing on Catalan tiles from the 16th to the 19th century.  The article was based on the research and drawings of Salvador Miquel, a leading tile collector and historian and became the standard work on the subject.  This booklet is a reprint of the article, with the illustrations now in colour for the first time.  The English text is not brilliant, but this should still be a very useful book for identifying Catalan tiles.
