COMING
SOON:
Due any day now is a book on the
ceramic tiles of Peggy Angus, to accompany an exhibition which starts tomorrow
at the Museum of Domestic Design and Architecture, Middlesex University, Cat
Hill, Barnet, Hertfordshire. Peggy was an internationally renowned
designer who created wonderfully bright tile designs for Carters of Poole in the
1940s, '50s and '60s, utilising strongly geometric designs that could be put
together in may ways to create different patterns. More recently, she
worked with Diana Hall on the design of encaustic floor tiles. Let us know
if you woukld like more details as soon as the book arrives.
We are also expecting a fantastic new
book on roof tiles from the USA. It sets out through 730 colour
illustrations to identify the different makes and styles of roof tile of the
past 150 years. This is a major work on the subject which we believe will
be of great help to those working in the conservation of historic
buildings.
Majolica and Glass: From
Italy to Antwerp and Beyond, is the title of a new book which is to
be the defintive work on the subject. Contains much to interest tile
buffs. Price will be about £35.00, advance orders taken
now.

Gary Drpostle which has just been installed as the centrepiece of the new

of Staines. The mosaic was made using the indirect technique in the classical
