ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I have always been passionate about nature, in particular wild animals. Their controlled power and exotic beauty enthrall me. When I discovered painting on tile, I became passionate about preserving their quintessence to the best of my ability for all time, or nearly so. And naturally I continued my fascination for stark realism that I always had in my 30 years of colored pencil work. My time spent doing painstaking layering work in colored pencil stands me in good stead with ceramic painting, as it is created from depth to height by its very nature.

I hope to reach other people like myself with a reverence for nature, those who truly appreciate the glint in the eagle's eye, the sheen on the parrot's gleaming feathers, the dew on the wild orchid. These are the people to whom I dedicate my life's work.
