COURANJOU, Jean - Les carreaux de faïence importés pour le revêtement décoratif architectural de la Régence turque d'Alger (1518-1830), précédé de Traité des assemblages. 410 pages, format 21x29cm, illustrated with 76 b&w hand-drawn pictures; includes a catalogue of 44 pages depicting 340 b&w hand-drawn models, panels and series described in the book, 37 pages of colour ill. Under the turkish regency period of Algeria (1518-1830) no tiles were manufactured localy, but large quantities were imported from different countries over a period of almost three centuries, for decoration of their monuments, mainly in the town of Algiers. The former stoneware tile factory of Gréber at Beauvais (1911) has been fitted up as "Ecomusée des pays de l'Oise" (Oise Living Museum). Internet Forum. "Internet forum on the study and the conservation of decorated
ceramics in architecture." The purpose of this forum is to trigger a debate at the highest
level between specialists in the different subject areas involved in the conservation and
restoration of decorated architectural ceramics, in an attempt to cover the broadest possible
geographic and cultural field. The forum is divided into five working modules, each of which
will focus on one particular area of the general theme of decorated architectural ceramics.
The five modules are: 1) The theory and practice of architectural intervention in the field
of decorated ceramics, 2) The process of deterioration, pathalogies and analysis,
3) The history of architectural ceramics, training and dissemination, 4) Restoration
techniques and processes, 5) Documentation and the siting of unusual architectural cases.
